Steve Britton

Managing Director, Global ILS Management

Based in Bermuda, Steve is responsible for overseeing Aon’s global ILS insurance management operations which provide full insurance management and advisory services for catastrophe bonds, sidecars and collateralised and commercial reinsurance vehicles, and for Aon’s White Rock group of transformer companies located in Bermuda, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Malta, Vermont and Washington DC.

Steve has more than 25 years of experience as a capital markets professional, ILS investment banker, insurance underwriter and reinsurance broker, with previous assignments in Los Angeles, London, New York and Bermuda.

Steve gained senior-level ILS and offshore insurance management experience as Senior Vice President and Head of Cayman Islands office for the Horseshoe Group, as Head of ILS at Fox-Pitt Kelton Cochran Caronia Waller, as SVP at Willis Capital Markets, and as Head of ILS and collateralised reinsurance at US RE Securities. Other prior appointments include start-up financial guaranty reinsurance company Longtail Re, Managing Director at monoline bond insurer, ACA Financial Guaranty Corp. and SVP at Aon Capital Markets and Special Risk Services (SRS).

During his career, Steve was formerly licensed as a FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities representative, and as a property and casualty insurance broker. Steve served previously on the Executive Committee of the Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (IMAC) where he was also Chairman of IMAC’s Marketing Committee.

Adele Gale

Director & Group Head of ILS

Adele joined Robus in February 2020 and manages a portfolio of clients alongside consulting on the setup of new vehicles.

Adele is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants with more than 10 years’ experience in insurance management. She has sat as a director on a number of captives providing property, cyber, employee benefits and employers liability, PI and D&O cover to their parent entities.

During 2020 Adele worked with GIIA to develop the first domicile ESG Framework for insurers and has lead ESG initiatives at Robus transforming the business to be more sustainable.

Adele worked at Aon for eight years as the client service team leader and a director of Aon’s sponsored PCC and ICC insurance entities, several captives and client owned ICCs, PCCs and limited liability companies. She has worked with a wide variety of clients to structure insurance transactions which meet their needs and comply with Guernsey’s regulatory and legal requirements.

As the Chief Risk Officer of Guernsey’s first rated catastrophe reinsurer, Adele gained experience presenting to AM Best at rating meetings and was the architect of the enterprise risk management framework. She has worked with several professionals including rating advisory, governance specialists, modellers, capital actuaries and compliance teams as well as various client’s and investor’s operational, legal and due diligence teams.

Prior to joining Robus, Adele worked for Artex on a fixed term contract basis where she took part in the Artex team’s business trips and assisted with new business enquiries.

Hector Ibarra

CEO

Hector has worked for over 20 years driving innovation in the financial industry for multilateral agencies, financial intermediaries and national/regional governments. As Lead Financial Officer at the World Bank, he designed and placed over $1 billion in disaster risk financing products. Hector also has significant commercial experience; prior to his role at the World Bank he was Assistant VP for Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) at Partner Re, where he originated and oversaw a portfolio of over $400 million.

Jutta Kath.

Head of Transaction Management

Jutta is a fully qualified German lawyer who received part of her training in the US. She has held various executive management positions in the insurance and reinsurance industry over the past 31 years. Her career started at HDI (Hannover, Germany) in 1989 followed by positions at Hannover Re, Converium, Winterthur Insurance, Zurich and Allianz. Her experience spans from claims management and non-life underwriting to run-off management and reinsurance buying.

In 2013 Jutta joined the ILS team of Secquaero Advisors in Zurich where she was initially responsible for origination of non-life opportunities and transaction management. She was also COO of Secquaero. Since the full integration with Schroders, she has acted as the Head of Transaction Management optimizing the collateral management and managing the relationship to AON Insurance Managers in Guernsey. She also represents Schroder Secquaero in industry events such as the Artemis conference, Trading Risk or Monte Carlo and occasionally also comments on trends in our industry in the trade press.

Since 2016 she has held non-executive director positions at Uniqa Insurance Group (Vienna) and Uniqa Re (Zurich). She is also a member of the IT, investment and audit committee of UIG. Apart from her legal degree she holds a degree in motivational psychology (University of Zurich).

Richard Sharp

Partner

Richard heads up the Guernsey office's insurance and reinsurance practice. Richard's practice includes all aspects of insurance and reinsurance work, including captives, ILS and pension risk transfers. He advised on the innovative ILS transaction that was the first in its sector to use blockchain for settlement.

Richard has considerable experience of offshore transactions and specialises in investment funds and listing matters. He previously worked for UK firm Cobbetts LLP where he advised on a wide range of private and public corporate transactions. Richard has also worked in-house for the corporate finance department of WH Ireland plc.

Richard joined the firm in 2012 having worked for another leading Channel Islands firm for the previous five years and was called to the Guernsey Bar in 2014.
