Carey Olsen among Guernsey winners at inaugural private equity services awards
14 June 2018
Guernsey firms enjoyed success at the The Drawdown's first Private Equity Services Awards.
The Drawdown, a new private equity publication for operational professionals, launched the awards to celebrate and reward service providers in the private equity market demonstrating exceptional customer service, innovation, and product development over the past 12 months.
Carey Olsen was named "best offshore law firm" in the fund formation category. The law firm stood out thanks to its involvement in a number of notable fund launches over the past year, including advising SoftBank on the launch of the world's largest ever investment fund, advising Global Advisors (Holdings) on the launch of the world’s first regulated, crypto-denominated fund, CoinShares Fund I, and working with Northern Trust on the launch of the first commercial deployment of blockchain technology for the private equity market.
Carey Olsen funds partner David Crosland said: "We're delighted to see Carey Olsen recognised as the leading offshore law firm working in the private equity space. We have advised on some of the largest, most innovative and groundbreaking deals in the sector over the past year and this endorsement is a credit to the hard work and talent of our people. It is especially pleasing that the judging panel was made up of exactly the type of operational and legal professional that we enjoy working with on a day-to-day basis."
Collecting the award on behalf of the firm were London-based Guernsey lawyers Matthew Brehaut and Alexandra Hehir, members of Carey Olsen's corporate and finance practice.
Other winners with a Guernsey presence included law firm MJ Hudson for its marketing and communications expertise, and fund administrators Citco (in the technology and innovation sectors), Intertrust (AIFMD depositary solutions), and Aztec Group (for firms with total assets under management of $30bn).
