Asia update - August 2019
20 August 2019
Here is the latest update from Asia Pacific Representative Dorothy Kwok in Hong Kong
The summer is generally a quieter time in Asia, but Wendy and I have been busy preparing for upcoming events.
It has been confirmed that the Hong Kong Masterclass, which takes place on 24 September, will focus on green funds. If you are interested in speaking at this event to share your thoughts and experiences in this area, please contact myself for more information.
Guernsey Finance is also planning a lunch event in Hong Kong in November. With a focus on trust and fiduciary, speakers will share their thoughts on the comparison between Hong Kong and Guernsey trusts. More information will be provided soon.
Here is China Representative Wendy Weng's update from Shanghai
Further business development in China sees another client from the region setting up a Protected Cell Company, with one cell covering tourist liability insurance. They plan to visit Guernsey in October and will be in the island at the same time as my own visit, so I hope to attend meetings with them to help build relationships.
I also hosted a client dinner for 11 people in July, made up of lawyers, family offices, a trust company and a wealth management company.
During STEP week, Guernsey Finance will be undertaking an Asian roadshow with a view to having events in Singapore (7 November) and Hong Kong (12 November. For more information about this trip and events, feel free to contact me.
ARM Managing Director Charles Scott made another visit to China at the end of July, and I accompanied him to meetings with potential clients. His visits are proof that there are plenty of opportunities for Guernsey here if people take the time to travel over.
