China

China Representative Wendy Weng has had a number of meetings with insurance, fund, private wealth and relocation firms and has seen opportunities arising for the insurance sector. The annual Shanghai Masterclass was held on 25 September with nearly 100 in attendance, who were particularly interested in immigration and Guernsey fund structures. Wendy will be following up this month with the registered firms. After the webinar, Wendy held a private dinner with 28 people from the insurance, private wealth, fund and legal industry. Charles Scott of ARM also joined in virtually to participate in the event.

The Shanghai office attended another webinar working with local partner Antoine Kuo, who discussed the topic of why Guernsey for trust structures. Wendy took the opportunity to promote the Shanghai Annual Masterclass.

Hong Kong

Asia Pacific Representative Dorothy Kwok and BD Consultant Andy Robinson have had a number of meetings with corporate service providers, trust companies, banks, Chamber of Commerce, legal and investment firms over the past month. Andy had a successful meeting with an international CSP that advises on trusts and family offices activities. Andy will introduce them to firms in Guernsey’s private wealth industry over the next few weeks. Andy and Dorothy have been busy marketing the Hong Kong Masterclass event, which will take place on Thursday 8 October. Dorothy attended a webinar by the Confidel Academy with one of the topics was focused on the Guernsey Trust and the webinar was attended by people from varying jurisdictions. The webinar was in Mandarin, and the speaker also covered funds and relocation. Andy attended the British Chamber webinar – ‘Opportunities and Challenges for Financial Services in the Greater Bay Area’. The presentation was well received with interest in following up and there does seem to be some great opportunities for financial services in the area.
