GFSC and Guernsey Finance join forces for AI conference
25 April 2023
UK Minister Lord Johnson of Lainstone CBE is confirmed as the keynote speaker at an event hosted jointly by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and Guernsey Finance.
‘AI and Finance in Guernsey: The Power and the Implications’, will take place on 28th June and investigate the power and potential of artificial intelligence and the possibilities of digital innovation in the financial services industry.
This one-day conference will host industry-leading keynote speakers and a panel session about AI’s impact on cybercrime, environmental reporting and regulation. The event will also examine the current state of play and how technologies, such as ChatGPT, have impacted sectors like education.
The keynote speaker, Lord Johnson, is the Minister of State in the Department for Business and Trade. Lord Johnson has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and will provide an evaluation of how rising technology will impact the sector. He will also provide insight into the UK Government’s approach to inculcating AI.
William Mason, Director General at the GFSC, said: ‘We are delighted to have Lord Johnson addressing the conference. This event will be of keen interest to anyone following the progress of AI and its impact on many aspects of the financial services industry.
‘AI is evolving on a daily basis, and it can be difficult to see the opportunities from the challenges. This event will help provide participants with a clearer understanding of how the technology has been used to date and what our future could look like with AI.’
Guernsey Finance Chief Executive, Rupert Pleasant, said: ‘Our conference with the GFSC is set to be an unmissable industry event. The technology’s potential impact on the finance industry cannot be understated and it’s crucial Guernsey’s finance industry considers AI as part of the future. We are thrilled to welcome Government Minister Lord Johnson to the Bailiwick as keynote amongst an impressive line-up of speakers.’
The conference will take place at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, and CPD points will be available for attendees.
